Ae Meri Zindagi marks Asha Bhosle’s final feature-film recording
‘Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan’, the last feature-film recording of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, was released on September 8, marking what would have been her 93rd birthday.
The track features in director Harish Vyas’s upcoming father-son drama ‘Om Ka Hari’, starring Raghubir Yadav as Hari Prasad, alongside Anshuman Jha as his estranged son and Soni Razdan. Bhosle recorded the song in the latter part of 2023, well before her passing earlier this year, and its release was timed to coincide with her birth anniversary as part of the film’s music launch.
The album also features tracks sung by Amit Kumar, Paresh Pahuja and Raghubir Yadav, with the music composed by Rajieve Sarang and lyrics written by Pradeep Sharma Khusro. The accompanying music video includes footage of Bhosle recording the song in studio, along with a brief clip of her explaining why she chose to sing it.
Speaking about the significance of the song, the makers of ‘Om Ka Hari’ said having Bhosle lend her voice to the film was something words could barely capture, adding that releasing the track on her birth anniversary felt serendipitous and gave the film a small yet deeply meaningful place in her extraordinary musical journey.
Director Harish Vyas echoed similar sentiments, saying the release felt like both a tribute to her legacy and a celebration of the artist herself, rather than simply the launch of a song.
Bhosle passed away on April 12 this year at the age of 92, closing out a career that spanned more than eight decades and thousands of recordings across genres including film music, ghazals and folk. ‘Om Ka Hari’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 18.
